Location: Riyadh / Hail / Al-Ahsa – Saudi Arabia 

Arab Open University invites applications for 3 Assistant Professors in Computer Science to join its Faculty of Computer Studies in the following locations; Riyadh, Hail and Al-Ahsa.

This opportunity will suit an academic with demonstrated potential for effective university teaching and a developing research profile. You will contribute to student success, teaching and research in Computer Science, and the development of the Faculty within a multicultural, blended and technology-enabled learning environment.

The role

As Assistant Professor, you will:

• Deliver engaging undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching in Computer Science, using face-to-face, blended and online approaches.
• Develop teaching materials, practical learning activities and assessments, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to curriculum review and programme enhancement.
• Develop an active research agenda, publish in recognised peer-reviewed journals, and participate in collaborative research and funding proposals where appropriate.
• Provide academic advising and mentoring, and supervise student projects and research activities where permitted and formally assigned.
• Contribute to academic quality assurance, accreditation and continuous improvement.
• Participate in university committees, academic initiatives, professional networks and community engagement.
• Maintain your professional development in Computer Science, teaching, research and educational technology.

About you

You will hold a PhD or equivalent terminal qualification in Computer Science, or a closely related discipline with an appropriate specialisation, from a recognised institution. Appointment will be subject to the University’s approved regulations.

You will also demonstrate:

• Strong subject knowledge in Computer Science and the ability to connect theoretical concepts with practical applications.
• Potential for effective university teaching, assessment, student engagement and academic advising.
• Evidence of scholarly activity and the potential to build a sustained research and publication profile.
• Developing academic independence and the ability to contribute to collaborative research.
• Capacity to support curriculum development, academic quality assurance and institutional initiatives.
• Effective use of learning management systems and digital teaching tools.
• Proficiency in the language or languages of instruction required by the programme.
• A collegial approach and a strong commitment to academic integrity, ethical research and student success.
• Commitment to building your academic and professional profile and continuously improving your teaching and research.
