Arab Open University invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Accounting to join its Faculty of Business Studies in Jeddah.

This opportunity will suit an academic with demonstrated potential for effective university teaching and a developing research profile. You will contribute to student success, teaching and research in Accounting, and the development of the Faculty within a multicultural, blended and technology-enabled learning environment.

The role

As Assistant Professor, you will:

• Deliver engaging undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching in Accounting, using face-to-face, blended and online approaches.
• Develop teaching materials and assessments, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to curriculum review and programme enhancement.
• Develop an active research agenda, publish in recognised peer-reviewed journals, and participate in collaborative research and funding proposals where appropriate.
• Provide academic advising and mentoring, and supervise student projects and research activities where permitted and formally assigned.
• Contribute to academic quality assurance, accreditation and continuous improvement.
• Participate in university committees, academic initiatives, professional networks and community engagement.
• Maintain your professional development in teaching, research and educational technology.

About you

You will hold a PhD or equivalent terminal qualification in Accounting, or a closely related discipline with an appropriate specialisation, from a recognised institution. Appointment will be subject to the University’s approved regulations.

You will also demonstrate:

• Potential for effective university teaching, assessment, student engagement and academic advising.
• Evidence of scholarly activity and the potential to build a sustained research and publication profile.
• Developing academic independence and the ability to contribute to collaborative research.
• Capacity to support curriculum development, academic quality assurance and institutional initiatives.
• Effective use of learning management systems and digital teaching tools.
• Proficiency in the language or languages of instruction required by the programme.
