Careers, Employability and Student Enterprise are responsible for supporting our students and graduates to plan their future career paths and develop essential enterprising skills. Our teams assist students and graduates to plan their future career paths and develop their employability skills so they can embark on successful graduate careers or further study.   Careers Employability and Student Enterprise also supports students to set up their own business/social enterprise, become freelance/self-employed or develop essential enterprising skills.

Global Recruitment and Admissions brings together all aspects of the applicant journey from initial enquiry to the point of enrolment. Through our excellent customer service, knowledgeable advice and guidance, together with our international recruitment and partnership activity we aim to enthuse prospective students to join Southampton and become part of our thriving community. We support Faculties and Schools to reach their student numbers by focusing on high impact recruitment activity, showcasing the University through events such as Open Days and providing expert advice, market analysis and information.

The University Library has a comprehensive collection of books and journals, both electronic and print, available from the Hartley and other campus libraries. Our five campus sites offer a range of services, including online courses, to support teaching, research and the development of academic skills, across all areas of the University.

We pride ourselves on our inspiring learning spaces, making a great place to study, all staffed by our friendly team whose aim is to help all of our student and staff library users make the most of our digital and print resources and benefit from studying and working in a world leading University.

The Office of the Academic Registrar are the experts in the educational governance, compliance, quality assurance and accreditation aspects of student administration. The administrative work undertaken by the team is vital to ensure our educational activities and core policies meet the regulations, so attention to detail and a passion for quality are key. The team help to create a seamless university experience for students and staff through the provision of timely, consistent, and transparent guidance and support to ensure the smooth delivery of academic functions in the University.

Residences manage a diverse portfolio of properties, across a range of locations, and offer accommodation to around 6,500 students per year. Our aim is to ensure students get the most out of living in our community, and our team of professionals are on hand to provide friendly and practical support and services whilst keeping halls clean and safe. Our on-site teams are on hand to answer queries about halls services and facilities, arrange on-site events, provide support, provide the friendly face at halls receptions as well as delivering domestic and maintenance services.

Southampton Sport offers a wide array of indoor and outdoor facilities for both staff and students, for varying abilities and interests. Our facilities, courses and classes operate over several locations, and open 7 days a week. The University is investing over £40million in our sports facilities across our campuses and our mission is to develop a healthy, happy, successful community across the University of Southampton, aiming to see at least 75% of our population active by 2025.

Early Years Centre is available to students and staff at the University and provides high quality childcare from birth to five years of age. We ensure the happiness, safety and development of each child in our care is at the core of everything we do. Our newly refurbished centre is designed to feel warm and welcoming and is equipped with a variety of natural and authentic resources, including a large outside play space for children to explore. We are working towards the Curiosity Approach accreditation, a child centred approach which ensures children feel relaxed and at ease in their environment.

Student and Education Services is comprised of multiple teams that collaborate with colleagues across the University to enhance the quality of our student’s experience, through the provision of key information across a range of services, academic information and support as well as the delivery of events from Welcome through to Graduation. The team is responsible for Student Communications to ensure our students are informed and supported and works closely with colleagues to deliver key messages.

Our various Administration and Academic affairs teams support our students’ journey through the provision of curriculum and timetabling, induction, maintaining student records and the delivery of all assessment-related processes, including exams and awards. The Doctoral College provides a focal point for doctoral training and researcher development, acting as a hub for Southampton’s inspiring doctoral research community.

Our Student Hub team are the first point of contact for questions and concerns relating to every part of the student lifecycle, including fees, financial support, accommodation, course administration and everything that underpins student wellbeing. Our Student Wellbeing team provide a 24/7 open door service, as well as the delivery of a range of wellbeing workshops, events, self-help resources and short-term counselling. In addition, the Student Disability and Inclusion team provide a variety of support for students who have disabilities, mental health conditions and Specific Learning Disabilities.

Widening Participation and Social Mobility caret-down

Widening Participation and Social Mobility has responsibility for meeting the ambitious targets of the University’s Access and Participation Plan which aims to improve the access, success and progression of students from underrepresented groups and disadvantaged backgrounds in Higher Education

The team are committed to supporting underrepresented groups of students including Care Leavers, Estranged Students, Mature Students and Student Carers, helping them to take up all the opportunities on offer to them as part of the University community. The team provide a wide range of support, advice, information and guidance bother before joining and whilst at University to ensure that students have access to the help and resources they may need whilst they are here.

We support potential and current students in a range of ways – from awareness raising in primary schools to financial support for current students in hardship, from an academic skills service, to engaging with our local communities.
