Service Design Lead
As Service Design Lead, you will act as design authority with responsibility for the end-to-end service design perspective of new or enhanced services for students that are being developed within the programme. You will be responsible for setting and applying the vision necessary to ensure that all new services for students meet specified University requirements and user needs in the optimum manner. You are creative in your approach and will help to drive innovation in service design, guide users through the process and embed best practice within teams to deliver high quality, user-centred services.
You will work with senior stakeholders to capture the ‘service’ perspective and help to develop the vision and roadmaps for the future, in line with University strategy. You will act as Service Design Lead for designated projects within the newly formed Student Administration and Continuous Improvement Team and be expected to run interactive workshops taking a Design Thinking approach to assess services and provide constructive feedback/review, questioning the status quo and removing complexity from services. You are adept at creating digital and non-digital service prototypes and applying digital patterns and standards.
Your background will include extensive experience of user research and the ability to interpret complex data, as well as exposure to agile delivery and Lean UX. You are an able communicator, adept at translating business and user needs into usable technology solutions. You are at ease working across organisational boundaries and with internal/external stakeholders and vendors.
As the successful candidate, you will have a Degree and/or professional qualification and significant track record of Service Design work experience in a complex IT environment. A formal design qualification is desirable, but not essential.
The post is offered on a 2 year fixed term contract. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week; however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Job share arrangements may also be considered.
