The Union is seeking to appoint a Facilities Assistant to oversee and maintain the security and safety of the Union’s premises, support the delivery of events and activities and lead on maintenance of the Union’s assets.
You will be responsible for opening the Union Buildings at the start of the day and/or securing them at close of business, responding to Union alarms and keeping the Union buildings clean, tidy and presentable. You will set up venues as required for events and activities, assist colleagues in delivering the right equipment in the right place at the right time to meet clients’ needs and liaising with colleagues and clients in booking and setting up events and activities.
You will assist with the daily running and maintenance of the transport fleet, including occasional driving ofminibuses and vans and conducting minor repairs and maintenance where possible, including filling, paintingand minor DIY-type jobs along with reporting damage or breakages to relevant staff or the University of Southampton Estates department.
You will have experience of undertaking basic maintenance tasks to a reasonable level and be capable of capable of carrying out manual handling work. Importantly, you must be willing to work flexibly, includingweekends and nights on a shift pattern. You will be able to demonstrate a ‘common sense’ approach to problem solving and be committed to achieving the highest levels of customer service.
