Director of MRC Lifecourse Epidemiology Centre

We are seeking a visionary Director of the MRC Lifecourse Epidemiology Centre (LEC) who shares our commitment to drive forward and build on our current achievements. About the role

The Director of the MRC LEC will have a senior leadership role in the Faculty as a member of the Faculty Executive Board and play a key role in delivering our ambitious targets for growth and impact in research and knowledge exchange.  Working with colleagues across the University and in the local NHS we have strengthened our position as a renowned centre for translational research, leading innovative learning and discovery for better health across the life-course. we are looking to appoint an outstanding senior academic to lead the MRC Lifecourse Epidemiology Centre in developing and delivering lifecourse epidemiological methods to reduce the population burden of chronic musculoskeletal disease and disability.

About you

 Accountable jointly to the MRC and the University for all aspects of the management of the Centre you will provide visionary direction and leadership, upholding the agreed mission of the Centre to use lifecourse epidemiological methods to reduce the population burden of chronic musculoskeletal disease and disability.

You will play an instrumental role in engaging with and inspiring diverse teams across the Centre, Faculty and wider University. You will deepen cross-functional relationships within faculties and the MRC, contributing to the development of the scientific programme of the Centre.

With a deep understanding and knowledge of chronic musculoskeletal disease and disability, as well as a proven track record of outstanding academic achievement of international standing you will have the ability to lead, plan and develop a range of high-quality research and teaching activities.  You will think both analytically and creatively and be able to engage with and influence policy makers helping to inform health policy as well and promoting public engagement.
