Deputy Director of Library and Learning Services

The University of Southampton is seeking to appoint a new Deputy Director of Library and Learning Services.

This is a key role, leading the development of engagement strategy for the Library. The role holder will have responsibility for creatively developing a broad portfolio of service areas, in line with ambitious objectives.

It has never been a better time to join the University. We have recently launched our new University Strategy and are about to embark upon one of the largest upgrades of our physical and digital infrastructure in our history. This includes a commitment to significantly enhance our main library and the role holder will lead the Library contribution to the development of new strategic plans for digital experience. The University has recently signed a new Civic Agreement and the role holder will contribute to delivering our civic plans with local communities.

About you 

With extensive experience at a senior level in a library or similar you will have a high level of understanding of the UK higher education sector and the key issues facing research led libraries. With a strong customer focus you will be able to think both analytically and creatively and have experience of engaging both nationally and internationally in the field of library and information services.  A collaborate and effective leader, you will support and motivate staff, interacting strategically with senior colleagues across the academic and professional services community.
