Associate Dean International

This is an exciting time be joining the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Southampton.

Building on its existing successes, the Faculty is now working towards ambitious plans to be a market leader in Arts and Humanities education. We are working towards a sector leading physical and virtual estate, that offers an outstanding student experience, enables research and innovation, and that facilitates engagement with all our communities, whether local, global or business.

We want to grow our student community and establish a sustainable, sector leading, reputation for learning in the arts and humanities through a balanced economy that values a diversity of contributions: home and international recruitment, TNE, high fee programmes, funded research, enterprise income and an online portfolio.

The role

As Associate Dean you will support the Vice President (International and Engagement) and other senior colleagues to proactively seek out opportunities to champion our students on the global stage. enhance our reputation as a world-leading University and a destination of choice for anyone seeking a world-class education and experience.

You will lead the delivery of the Faculty’s international vision and academic mission alongside the Dean and the senior leadership team. This position has Faculty wide oversight of all activities relating to our international reach and engagement with a strong emphasis on student recruitment, and working with partners overseas.

The post is offered on a tenured basis initially for a period of three years, which is extendible upon mutual agreement. At the end of this tenure, you will return to a substantive position within the Faculty.

About you 

You will have a proven track record of providing strategic and visionary direction in the development of internationalisation as well as experience of forging and negotiating strategic international partnerships. You will need to have a good understanding of the UK HE environment globally and have significant experience of international student recruitment.

You will also be a skilled and experienced leader combined with a well-established national and international reputation in your own subject area.
