The University’s roots go back to 1821 with the establishment of the School of Arts of Edinburgh. The School of Arts was the world’s first Mechanics Institute, marking the start of a worldwide movement that would revolutionise access to education in science and technology for ordinary people with the purpose of addressing societal needs.
Named as ‘International University of the Year’ in the 2018 Times and Sunday Times University Guide, we have over the past 30 years developed into a truly multinational institution that operates across campuses in Dubai in UAE, Putrajaya in Malaysia, and Edinburgh, Galashiels and Orkney in Scotland, as well as through numerous partnerships that span the globe from east to west and north to south.
The Edinburgh Business School, which is the largest business school in Scotland, is growing rapidly, and there are plans to accelerate this growth into the future. There are also plans to double the size of Psychology, including through the provision of courses and programmes via HW-Online.
