Responsible AI UK (RAI UK) is led by experts in Electronics and Computer Science (ECS). It is an important national centre that draws on the expertise of researchers from across the UK, to shape and steer the course of AI development for the benefit of society. Drawing on a range of academic disciplines and funded by the Technology Missions Fund, RAI will work in four key areas:
- Ecosystem creation: creating networks between academics, industry and government; identifying and developing a portfolio of thematic areas and associated translational activities.
- Research and Innovation programmes: developing programmes of research using existing teams across the RAI UK community, and linking them with early stage industry-led projects.
- Skills programmes: RAI UK research will be used to develop training for all those who use and interact with AI
- Public and policy engagement: leveraging expertise and networks to address key challenges as they develop, and giving the public and policy-makers access to evidence-based guidance in the development of new standards.
